AFDO Disability Advocacy Conference 2023

20 Years of Change, History in the Making

AFDO Disability Advocacy Conference & 20th Anniversary

Date: Monday 30 October 2023
Time: 9:00am – 4:30pm
Location: The Jasper Hotel, 489 Elizabeth St, Melbourne VIC 3000

The 2023 AFDO Annual Disability Advocacy Conference was a key event for the Disability Sector bringing together representatives from Disabled Peoples Organisations, disability advocates and community leaders, as well as attendees from the broader disability sector, to discuss issues affecting people with lived experience of disability, celebrate our successes and reflect on how we meet the challenges ahead.

Our keynote speaker was Alastair McEwin (OAM) renowned Disability Advocate and Commissioner at the Disability Royal Commission, shared reflections on the journey and progress of the disability rights movement over the past two decades

The 2023 Conference also marked 20 years since AFDO was established to act as a voice for disabled people’s representative organisations. AFDO proudly remains run by people with disability for people with disability across Australia.

The AFDO Disability Advocacy Conference was an excellent opportunity for our sector to come together for thought provoking discussion, knowledge exchange, planning and networking. The conference was also an excellent professional development opportunity for new team members.
