AFDO and The Co-op Federation are starting a new program called the Co-operative Communities Project – and we’d love you to be involved!
This project runs for 12 months and is made to help people with disability work together to start and run their own micro businesses. These businesses could be in art, design, baking, lawn care, gardening, or anything else you’re interested in.
You’ll be part of a team, get support from mentors, and learn how to build something meaningful with others.
What You Will Get
- Help to Start Your Business: You’ll work with a small group to plan and build a business based on what you enjoy and are good at.
- Mentor Support: You’ll be matched with someone who will give advice and help you along the way.
- Teamwork and Friendship: You’ll be part of a team, learning and working together.
- New Skills and Confidence: You’ll learn how to run a business, make decisions, and work with others.
Why It’s Different
This project isn’t only about starting a business – it’s about building a supportive community around you. Your co-op will be backed by people who care about your success and want to help you feel included.
Everything we learn together will be used to create a Blueprint – a simple guide that others across Australia can use to start their own co-ops too!
Who Can Join?
