The Commission welcomes the launch from Victoria Police of a new Easy English resource about people’s rights when reporting crime. The resource was developed in partnership with the Commission and includes input from a range of stakeholders.
The resource is accessible and in Easy English to help a range of audiences, particularly people with cognitive and communication disabilities, understand their rights and how to report crime.
The resource provides information about:
- what a crime is
- where crime can occur
- how to report a crime
- how to make complaints
- where to go for more help and support.
The new resource forms part of the Commission’s ongoing work with Victoria Police to implement the recommendations from Beyond doubt: the experiences of people with disabilities reporting crime.
