
AFDO is launching an online store and we want to feature artwork by a person with disability that celebrates disability rights, inclusion, and empowerment. If you’re a disability artist who wants to use your creativity to make a difference, we’d love to see what you come up with.
What the Winner will Receive
- Your design featured in AFDO’s online store
- Display of your artwork at AFDO’s 2025 Advocacy Conference in Canberra
- A $250 gift card
- A free product featuring your winning design
- Your name credited & promoted on AFDO’s website and social media
- Link promoted to your own website
How to Enter
- Create a design that speaks to one or more of the following themes:
- Disability rights
- Inclusion and accessibility
- Disability pride
- Empowerment and advocacy
- Email your entry to communications@afdo.org.au with the subject line:
Disability Artists Entry – [Your Name] - In your email, include:
- Your full name and contact details (including your website)
- Brief outline about yourself and your disability (150 words)
- Confirm that the artwork is an original by you and does not infringe any copyright and is not Artificial Intelligence generated
- The title of your artwork
- A short description of the artwork (up to 100 words)
- Your design file (see details below)
Submissions close on 7 June 2025
If your file is larger than 25MB, please upload it to Dropbox and include the download link in your email. If you need help with this, please reach out.
Design Requirements
- Original work only
All designs must be your own original work and must not be subject to any copyright or exclusions by any other person or entity. Submissions that include AI-generated content or copied elements will not be considered. - Exclusive use
Your design must not have been published, sold, or submitted elsewhere. By entering, you grant AFDO the exclusive right to use the design on merchandise and promotional materials for a twelve-month period. You retain copyright and will always be credited and promoted as the artist. - Format and resolution
PNG format
300 dpi
Transparent background preferred - Suitability
Your design should work well across a variety of products including shirts, mugs, tote bags, and stickers. Simple, strong visuals work best. - Content standards
Entries must not include anything offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate.
Selection Process
A lived-experience panel made up of people with disability including an AFDO Board Director and two disability advocates will review all submissions.
Entries will be evaluated based on:
- How well they reflect the theme
- Artistic originality
- Visual appeal
- Product versatility
