Following the AFDO Board meeting held last week, we are pleased to announce that AFDO Vice President, Trevor Carroll has been re-appointed to the role of International Coordinator for AFDO, for a further 12-months.
This role is a 12-month appointment and we have been extremely fortunate to have Trevor in this role since 2018, and Frank Hall-Bentick in the role prior to Trevor taking on the role in 2018.
We are also excited to announce that AFDO now has Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), a status that gives us access to all of the UN bodies that are open to Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), including the General Assembly and the Human Rights Council.
ECOSOC, established under the United Nations Charter, is the principal organ that coordinates economic, social, and related work of the 14 UN specialised agencies. It serves as the central forum for discussing international economic and social issues, and for formulating policy recommendations addressed to Member States and the United Nations system.
