Join Our Augmented Reality Peer Success Story Project!

The Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO), in collaboration with CreativiTek, invite you to share your story as part of our new Augmented Reality (AR) Peer Success Story Project. This project is all about celebrating personal achievements, building confidence, and showcasing independence through the power of storytelling.

About the Project

We are looking for people with lived experience of disability to share their success stories through an interactive AR app. This is a paid opportunity. This project will represent people from all backgrounds, including but not limited to:

  • Individuals with disability from rural and remote areas
  • Women with disability
  • Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) individuals with disability
  • Individuals with disability who identify as LGBTIQA+

We also welcome other individuals with disability who have an inspiring story to share and empower their peers.

Your story will be presented through immersive 2D/3D mobile augmented reality experiences, and you’ll have input in shaping how it is shared to ensure it reflects you and your journey accurately.

What You’ll Do

If selected, participants will:

  • Provide a short-written summary about themes such as independence, confidence, employment, community involvement, self-advocacy, and disability rights (guidelines will be provided).
  • Take part in a recorded interview (either in person or online) to share more about your journey.
  • Share images or objects related to your story, which may feature in the AR experience.
  • Work with our team to finalise your story format and AR representation, with options for photo and/or video captures, or other visual/audio elements.

Why Get Involved?

  • Share your story to empower others in the disability community.
  • Be part of a creative project that educates and inspires.
  • Gain recognition for your achievements, which will be shared through AFDO’s network.

How to Apply

If you’re interested in being a Peer Success Contributor, please send your expression of interest to jim.valavanis@afdo.org.au by 15th of November 2024.

In your submission, include:

  • Your name, contact details, and a short summary of your story (we will provide guidelines upon application).
  • A short note about why you’d like to participate and how your experiences fit the project’s themes.

This is a unique opportunity to showcase the achievements of the disability community and inspire others. We look forward to hearing your story!
